Open the Gates Breakfast
God is doing an amazing work in our midst! I’ve desired to share more with you as God lays important things on my heart. Candidly, it was difficult to know the best platform to do so. At least for the time being I’ve settled on sending a twice-monthly Tuesday from Pastor Tom email. I hope you’ll look forward to these letters as much I look forward to sharing with you.
To start us off, you know that my heart has grown more and more in the area of Community Engagement with the issues and concerns that matter. The September series, Making Things Right: taking up another’s care or cause out of love, revealed God’s heart for justice and reflects mine being shaped by Him. It was a blessing to have my friends, Bruce Strom and Roger Simmons, participate in this vital series. If you missed any of this series, you can find it on our website, here. Our church has been on the frontlines of these justice issues for decades. God has used Fox Valley Church to make an eternal difference in our community!

At this breakfast you’ll learn more about our partner ministry, Administer Justice, and why, over 20 years ago, I decided to take a chance on a young lawyer with a strong vision. Having served on the board of AJ for a decade, I saw God grow this ministry into the second largest justice center in the country and launch a national initiative to develop 1000 justice centers in other churches across our nation.

God’s heart for justice rips through the entire Bible. Jesus boldly claimed Isaiah’s prophetic announcement as his, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.
