LET THERE BE LIGHT
Light is used throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, to tell us about God, goodness, truth, life, evil, spiritual warfare and more. From the opening lines of Genesis, “let there be light” we find even darkness submits to God. Our Christmas series focuses on ways the Bible uses light to ultimately shine the brightest light (“Light shall shine out of the darkness”), the True Light, Jesus Christ. Jesus dispels darkness, bringing us into a kingdom of light.
Our Advent Devotional, "Christmas Miracles" moves us to see that not only was Jesus’ birth story filled with miracles, but the church through the centuries shows the same power of the Holy Spirit. Many people continue to experience miracles to the glory of God. The Good News advances, Jesus’ kingdom grows and lives are changed often through miracles. We need God to open our eyes to see His miraculous work today. As said centuries ago, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.”
